Chemistry and Biology stream

Studying in the Chemistry and Biology stream at Richelieu Lyceum is not only interesting, but also lots of fun. When it comes to teaching their subject, the creative approach of our teachers nurtures audacity and initiative in children. Chemistry and Biology are taught at a very high level at our lyceum. Our pupils’ achievements serve as proof of this: silver and Bronze winners at All-Ukrainian Chemistry olympiads in 2014 and 2015, silver winners at regional biology tournament, many winners at regional Biology and Ecology olympiads. Pupils in the Chemistry and Biology stream gain deep knowledge of their chosen subjects, following specialized Chemistry and Biology curriculums, advanced level of Physics as well as intensive Maths program. A well-equipped lab with huge amounts of different chemical reagents is available for our pupils to use. It allows them to conduct a wide range of chemical experiments and practical training by themselves. This means that our chemists don’t just know how to solve chemistry problems on paper, they are also wizards in the lab.

Our teachers in this stream have huge experience preparing pupils for competitions at different levels: from city olympiads to international tournaments. Apart from this, pupils who show special interest have the opportunity to take on university-level courses at the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University Chemistry Department.

Biologists, in turn, apply their theoretical knowledge in practical environments. Traditionally, every summer our pupils take part in the Richelieu Lyceum Summer Biological Practice. Equipped with binoculars, masked and insect nets, our pupils together with the leading teachers from the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University familiarize themselves with unexplored Ukrainian flora and fauna, conduct research and collect data for future science projects.
