The Regional Physics Olympiad 2016
A renowned physicist Ernest Rutherford, Nobel laureate, once remarked: “Sciences are divided into two groups - the physics and stamp collecting”. The physics always becomes the greatest love and the meaning of all life for those who began to learn this interesting science. For the young Odessian physicists, even the New Year holidays, ice and cold winter weather could not become a barrier on the exciting way of learning the mysterious and amazing queen of sciences - Her Majesty Physics. Last weekend the Regional Physics Olympiad was precisely organized among these pupils. The Physics Department of Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University hospitably welcomed gifted youth.
In this academic year, 80 pupils of 8th – 11th grades from schools of Odessa and the Odessa region took part in this intellectual competition. The Olympiad consisted of three parts: the demonstration, theoretical and experimental parts. It must be stressed that the young talents of Richelieu Lyceum have traditionally taken a lot of prizes. Out of 16 lyceum participants, 13 pupils became winners!
Maxim Levchenko, Paul Konoplev and Stanislav Kuzmin took second and third places among 9th graders.
All five 10th graders who participated in the Physics Olympiad also became prize-winners, but one of the classmates - Roman Soletskiy - successfully solved tasks for 11th grade and took the 1st place. Other 10th graders, Twardowski Dmitry and Alexey Pushkarev, took first and second places, respectively, Ivan Morozov and Alice Vorokhta - the third place. Moreover, three 8th graders were also excelled: Sergei Berdnikov took the first place, Eugene Svechihin and Constantine Timofeenko became the third prize winners.
Congratulations to the children and their teachers-mentors for such good results. You are the pride and glory of the Richelieu Lyceum. Thank you for worthy presentation of our Lyceum. We wish you further victories and awards!
